The dargah scene in Namastey London will be re-shot. Obviously, Katrina Kaif will wear a long skirt this time

Vipul Shah is excited about the impending release of Namastey London. But the skirt issue that was raised when Katrina Kaif visited a dargah for a scene, remains unresolved. To please the fundamentalists, the director has decided to re-shoot the sequence with Katrina wearing a longer skirt.

Vipul says, “I was supposed to show the whole sequence (where Katrina walks into a dargah in a skirt) to the Dargah committee only after the film was ready. I’m ready to show it to them now.”

Surprisingly, Vipul is ready to cut the entire sequence out and re-shoot it if the Dargah committee so wants. “Yeah, I’m all set to re-shoot it at Ajmer Sharif, if that’s what they want. I know it’ll be a huge expense. But I don’t want trouble, especially religious hostility. I don’t want people getting hurt because of one shot in my film. Causing offence and pain to any section of the audience is a defeating exercise for any filmmaker. It’s not worth it. We’ve seen serious debates arise out of films like Parzania and Traffic Signal. I don’t want such issues to come in the way of my relationship with the audience. So I’d rather re-shoot what’s offensive,” he says.
