Mumbai: The beans have been spilled. Mani Ratnam’s Ravana, which stars the husband-wife duo, Abhishek and Aishwariya Rai Bachchan, was not originally offered to Jr. AB. In fact, Mani Ratnam wanted to cast the popular pair, Shah Rukh Khan with Aishwariya Rai in the lead roles. After huge hits like Mohabbatein and Devdas, the duo was never seen on screen together.
When Mani Ratnam approached Shah Rukh, he was quite interested. However, when Mani Ratnam reached Mumbai, SRK was already committed to Aditya Chopra’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi,making his schedule tighter. Mani Ratnam did not want to delay the project, hence why he decided to cast in AB Jr.
