Irrfan Khan just about escaped a few minutes after he left the sets of his forthcoming film “Pan Singh Tomar” in Dholpur, Rajhastan. A bunch of dacoits rounded up some of the crew members. Also among the crew victimised was Vipin Sharma, who plays Darsheel’s father in Taare Zameen Par.
“We were shooting in the ruins of Dholpur and everybody had told us that dacoits are rampant in that area. There is a lake where allegedly these dacoits assemble in the evening and then mingle with people from neighbouring villages. We had wrapped up the shoot on time and Irrfan Khan had just walked out of the location when we also decided to leave,” Vipin reveals.
He adds: “I took off my make-up and when we left it was kind of dark. I had four people with me and we were travelling on kachcha roads when suddenly we saw some people with their faces covered approach us and stop us on our tracks. They were speaking in a language we did not understand. They must have had revolvers too with them. They asked us all sorts of questions. We didn’t know what to do and there was no one in sight too whom we could ask for help. We somehow managed to convince them that we were from a shooting crew. It was such a relief that they did not take us for ransom or rob us.”
