Firstbollywood.com spoke to Vishal Dadlani, of the famous Vishal-Shekhar duo, and lead singer of band Pentagram about the Mumbai Terror, and the venture taken up by him. He has started a site to take signatures to stop live airing of any action on terror which could invariably give away hostage positions, or information of important strategic nature. We support you on this, Vishal! This petition can be signed at www.smallchange.in

Here’s what he had to say about it:

Q. We’ve seen your reaction to the Mumbai terror scenario, and it’s seriously great to see that people who CAN influence people actually have the botheration to do it. How’s it going? Last I checked there were 4000 signatures there… How many are you expecting, and what’s your plan of action now?

We’re upto 10000 now, including those  awaiting confirmation! That’s a nice round figure, I guess. We’re gonna mail it to the High Court, and hope they take cognizance. This is the fastest way to get it heard in court. Then, hopefully, the court will call up the channels, and give us a fair hearing to, after which, it is my belief that the Code-of-conduct will be formulated!!

Q. From media reports we read that the killing of Hemant Karkare and others was purely to hijack their car, and the terrorists had no idea who they were. Is this true, do you believe media coverage may have led to their death?

I wouldn’t want to speculate on something as sensitive as this. I don’t know whether the coverage did in fact cause their deaths, but it could definitely have been a factor in them being recognised by the terrorists. That’s bad enough, I think.

Q. What are your comments on the involvement of Pakistan in the issue, and their co-operation on the issue so far?

I think we should get our own house in order first! There are many, many things we need to set straight in our country, before we start apportioning blame, and alleviating our own guilt! Currently, I think the whole anti- Pak propaganda could be a very convenient way for someone to distract us from what should be our true goals!

Q. Any message you would like to convey to readers about the mumbai massacre?

Please support our petition at smallchange.in. We aim to change the way in which our TV netwrks broadcast the terror attacks live, giving away details or troop deployment, hostage positions, etc.
