Box Office report for this week 23 Feb 2007 to 1 March 2007

First weekend performance

HONEYMOON TRAVELS PVT. LTD. was the sole release of the film and that benefited it to an extent that the audience didn’t have to worry about too many films to choose from in the Friday gone by. The film opened to 40% response in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Bangalore. At other places the opening was as low as 10%. Overall it may do decent business at select multiplexes of big cities.

Last week’s movies

Eklavya – The film picked up over the weekend after a poor start but then fell heavily from Monday/Tuesday onwards. The first week has managed average business of around 15 crore due to the good weekend. The 8th day showed business of about 30% which means the film may struggle to cover costs. Best in Mumbai. With the first week’s collections being out, this very much seems to be the case as the film gathered only 14 crores at the box office.

From the past

BLACK FRIDAY held on to some extent in the second week as it fell by 60% but still got home another 1 crore+ to its total. When one looks at the break up of collections across the cities, the film has held on best in Mumbai

UNDERTRIAL showed a complete crash in the second week as after collecting 40 lakhs in week 1, it could only add 4 lakhs more hence resulting in a 90% drop. A box office disaster

Meanwhile GURU continues to rock with further 1.5 crores in its 6th week
